Golf at Sunrise

Sunrise Country Club’s 18-hole executive plus course was designed by renowned golf course architect Ted Robinson in 1974, and regarded as one of the finest in the area. It is an ideal golf course for the seasoned golfer looking to be challenged as well as those just taking up the game. While enjoying a round of golf, you can also enjoy breathtaking views of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains. The course is a challenging par 64 of just under 4000 yards that can be comfortably played in less than three-and-a-half hours.

Our on-site driving range is easily accessible for a pre-game warm-up or for more focused practice sessions. The range provides ample tee box stations with club supports and yardage markers, separate dual-ended short-irons practice areas, a pitching/chipping area, and a bunker practice area. All areas allow hitting directly off the natural grass. In addition, two putting practice greens are maintained to the same standards as the regulation greens.

Our PGA-certified professionals are available to help advance your game, whatever your level of play. Our professionals provide clinics as well as private lessons, helping our members prepare for the active event schedule throughout the golf season. There are tournaments and activities in all divisions, including men’s and women’s divisions, the “Niners” division, and the Putters Club.

A wide variety of golf memberships designed to suit your needs are available. We invite you to come down, play a round, let us show you around, and see what is so special about a golf membership at Sunrise Country Club.

Golf Associations

MEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION

  • The Sunrise Country Club Men’s Golf Association (MGA) was formed in the mid 1980’s to:
  • Stimulate an interest in golf at Sunrise Country Club by bringing together a group of men desirous of participating in a golfing organization.
  • Promote and foster among its members a closer bond and fraternity for their joint and mutual interest and enjoyment.
  • Enforce uniformity to the rules of golf by creating a representative authority.
  • Maintain a uniform system of handicapping as set forth in the regulations of the Southern California Golf Association.
  • Afford a convenient and authoritative body to govern MGA activities held at the Sunrise Country Club.

The MGA currently has over 145 members who participate in weekly MGA play each Wednesday throughout the year and Saturday breakfast play on a monthly basis, Member/Member, Member/Guest Tournaments, Interclub matches and annual events such as the President’s Cup and Men’s Club Championship, all of which are held from November to April.

The Association has a Board of Directors who meet on a monthly basis from November to April and general membership meetings are also held on a monthly basis. The Association also has a representative on the Country Club’s Golf Committee.

A voluntary Hole in One program has also been established. The program is self-funded and provides recognition to those members who make a hole in one and entitles other participating members to a refreshment of their choosing.

The format of play on Wednesday of each week is a mixer providing a great opportunity to meet other members and make new friends.

LADIES’ GOLF ASSOCIATION

Our Sunrise Country Club Ladies Golf Association (SCCLGA) is your headquarters for fun. It is the perfect way to enjoy golf and meet new friends. Our Tuesday play days are held weekly from November through June. Each month includes a variety of group games, invitational tournaments, and individual challenges for golfers of all skill levels. Membership in the SCCLGA is open to all Sunrise golf members for a nominal annual membership fee that goes toward supporting the activities of the SCCLGA.

If you enjoy competition, our annual match play President’s Cup and stroke play Club Championship provide an opportunity to challenge yourself on a one-on-one basis. Opportunities are also available for participation in WSCGA tournament play and Desert Executive Course Team Play.

Member/Guest Days in December, February, and March delight golfers with themed tournaments and games that delight and amuse members and their guests. Saturday breakfast and golf scrambles offer even more possibilities for mixing and mingling.

A solid leadership team directs SCCLGA activities and encourages members to participate in a variety of ways through committee opportunities and by assuming leadership positions on the board. Beyond steering the golf related activities, the leadership board guides our ladies club in the promotion and generous support of local charities. Additionally, through a monthly newsletter, we inform members and keep them updated on current and future activities, display pictorial essays, feature membership articles, and offer golf tips from our professional golf staff.

Our active golf season runs from November through April, with a mini-season from May through June available for those who reside in the desert yearlong. There is no better place than Sunrise Country Club to enjoy all aspects of golf within the confines of a friendly, caring community. Please join us on Tuesday mornings for fun, fellowship, and friendship.
